Giant Slalom European Cup Win for Nösig

TECNICA Racing Team’s successes simply do not want to end this winter season: after top star Reinfried Herbst won the crystal globe in the Slalom World Cup this past weekend in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, his teammate Christoph Nösig won the Giant Slalom in the European Cup. The twenty-four year old from Längenfeld Ski Club was able to maintain his initial lead over the second-place Italian Florian Eisath in the second heat of the race in Tarvisio (ITA). Nösig is poised to enter next year’s world-cup season optimistically, because this win guarantees him a regular starting spot on the Austrian National Team. TECNICA would like to warmly congratulate Christoph Nösig on this amazing success!

REINFRIED HERBST WINS SLALOM CRYSTAL GLOBE

TECNICA Star 'Reini' Herbst secured his first overall Slalom World Cup in a heart-stopping finale

Garmisch-Partenkirchen – The battle for the Slalom World Cup’s small crystal globe, which had narrowed to two racers, TECNICA’s Reinfried Herbst and Frenchman Julien Lizeroux, saw ‘Reini’ Herbst take home the big win. Herbst raced to ninth place in the heart-stopping finale, keeping the Frenchman Julien Lizeroux at bay. Although the Frenchman was able to improve his standing in the second heat from 9th to 4th, in the end it was not enough. Lizeroux ended up missing the small crystal globe by a mere 22 points, allowing the Pinzgau native Herbst to win for the first time.

“This was a childhood dream of mine; and after such a heart-stopping finale! After the first heat my nerves were raw. I can’t afford to experience too many more days like this – it would be the end of me,” the overjoyed Herbst, who recently became a father for the second time, said shortly after the race. He continued: “When you only have one discipline, you have to make the most of your chances. This takes a huge load off my mind. I’d like to thank the whole team – I believe this success was important for the entire Austrian national team.

The winner of the World Cup finale in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was Felix Neureuther. The German was able to edge out the TECNICA team racer and first-heat winner Manfred Pranger by 29 hundredths.

BLIZZARD, TECNICA and all their co-workers congratulate Reinfried Herbst and Manfred Pranger on a triumphant season finale and are proud of their athletes.
